What is the Alexander Technique?
Alexander Technique is best known as a method for improving your posture and the quality of your movement in performing everyday activities. It is also well known as an effective means of reducing stress.
During a course of Alexander Technique sessions, you learn how to maintain a ‘healthy’ amount of muscle tone in the body - how to release excessive harmful tension and encourage ‘lazy’ muscles to do more. As a result your body becomes better aligned and balanced, and movement requires less effort. This has a beneficial effect on every aspect of your life – how you perform activities, your physical health, and your psychological state.
The Technique is usually taught on a one to one basis, but it is possible to attend a group class as a introduction.
Ordinary clothing is worn during lessons, but for comfort it is suggested that clothes are loose fitting.
Benefits can be noticed after a few lessons, but for continuing self improvement more are recommended.
